Lukashenko demands progress in development of Orsha District

There should be more progress in the development of Orsha District, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited Orsha Meat-Packing Plant on 15 June, BelTA informs.

“We will keep an eye on this matter till the end of the year. You will be responsible for every square meter,” Aleksandr Lukashenko warned.

The head of state remarked that Orsha gets more attention than any other city in the country. “But we also have Grodno, Brest. I have come here, and they already start writing: when will the president go to the west?” he added.

According to Vitebsk Oblast Governor Nikolai Sherstnev, a lot has been already done in Orsha District. Unique objects are being built in the region.

In December 2018 Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the decree to approve the Orsha District development program till 2023. The document was signed in order to “create conditions to promote the comprehensive social and economic development of Orsha District, Vitebsk Oblast, raise the living standards of the population, stimulate business initiative and investment in the economy of the region, increase local budget revenues.”

In a month the government approved an action plan to implement this program. The document includes measures in 18 areas: manufacturing, agribusiness, transit and logistics, transport, construction, social support, employment, development of SMEs, the smart city initiative, housing and utilities, healthcare, education, culture, trade, tourism, etc.
